I had a client last night was going through some personal issues. She started to cry at the end of the session. When she left she apologized for crying. I told her to not apologize for an emotional release. It's actually a good thing.
We as people tend to hold our emotions in. We're taught (especially guys) that crying is a sign of weakness. On a physical level when we don't express our feelings they get stored within the muscles of the body. This leads to many issues such as depression, constipation, headaches and digestive issues.
When receiving a massage these "bottled up" emotions can be released. This in turn can leave a client with a freeing feeling both emotionally and physically. So the next time you get a massage and you feel that overwhelming feeling to cry creep up just go with it.
